THE BIG PICTURE
Symmetry, depth, perspective- all words one might associate with a painting more than an improv performance, yet these elements are what make up our world, and are what the audience see when they watch your show. The images we present to the audience affect how they interpret our work, while the physical choreography informs everything from a character's emotional perspective, to the action of the scene itself. In this workshop, we will explore how the content of each scene can inform its physical presentation and work with levels and body positioning, distance, stage craft and alternative performance spaces to build scenes that are vibrant, multi-dimensional and expressive. Go beyond space work to unlock the beautiful work of art inside your scene
STORYTELLING AND IMAGINATION
Storytelling and imagination is a workshop whose goal is to make our work on stage deeper and more complete. When we are on stage, we are looking for something that can move the scene forward - short form or long form. In this workshop we'll look at different perspectives on storytelling, dramaturgy and imagination as tools to develop your scenes so they feel rich and interesting.

LET'S PLAY SERIOUSLY
We all talk about having fun on stage, but what does that really mean? When you are genuinely having fun, you are captivating to watch. As children, we play uninhibitedly and constantly invent new stories without fearing failure. By allowing ourselves to be vulnerable, and to be “in the shit”, we release our inner child and delight our audience. In this workshop we will use applied clowning and physical theatre techniques to bring pure joy into our improv. You will learn how to surprise yourself, and by removing the pressure to be funny you will truly be able to play…seriously. Clowns don’t have a history and they experience everything for the first time and we want our audiences to have that same sense of wonder when they watch us perform. If we can achieve that sense of pure unadulterated play on stage then the sky really is the limit.
